Letter to the Birth Parent

Dear Most Wonderful Gift Giver (s),
First and foremost Greg and I just want our potential birth mother to know how amazed we are by them. Someone that is even considering placing their baby with us requires great personal strength and a love so deep for their baby that they would do anything for him/her to make sure that they are safe, healthy and happy.

We met some years back and since we’ve been married our lives have been eventful and fulfilling. We’ve both known our ups and downs but at the end of the day we come together and know that we have each other to help us through it all. Greg has wonderfully big shoulders that are great to cry on and really big open arms that are great for bear hugs. Laura is such a good listener that I know I can come home at the end of the day and have someone there who wants to listen and who cares.

We live in a small town that Greg and I both love. It’s close enough to major things that I don’t feel like we live out in the sticks but far enough away you can relax. Both of our parents live within 10 minutes of us and we try to spend as much time as we can with them. Greg’s family has a big family reunion every year and we all go camping somewhere fun for about a week. It’s nice to get away and just relax in the mountains. We play games, go 4 wheeling and hang out around the fire. Family is very important to both of us.
Laura : I grew up in Louisiana and Utah. Being from the south I have strong roots in being respectful, cooking and seafood! I lived in the south till I was 8 years old. While I was down there I spent most of my time with my grand parents. They were so good to me, my grandpa used to let me put his hair in curlers and do his make up. My grandma always let me help her in the kitchen making tea cakes. To this day when I smell them baking I can almost hear her voice again.

We moved up to Utah and I made new friends and met all my cousins that lived up here and got to experience snow for the first time! What fun that was! My parents always wanted more children but my mom (who adopted me! ) could not have any. One day a lady in our neighborhood came to us and asked if we would be interested in adopting her daughters child. We of course said YES! Now 10 years later he is well on his way to driving me crazy! I love him of course but he is like all little brothers!
Greg : I was born in Orofino, Idaho. My family moved to Utah when I was three where my dad was building the family home. When I was little I milked cows, baled hay and worked in the garden .What I remember most is no matter what every night for dinner we all gathered around the dinner table to eat as a family. My mom always had a warm, home cooked meal on the table.

When I was older I attended both High School and College. I liked to play sports, draw and do auto body work. I lived by the phrase “Work hard, Play hard” My friends and I would go fishing and work on cars. I was made an Eagle Scout when I was 14. For my project I made a Oak Brochure display cabinet that sat at the Provo City Library until it was remodeled. Friends and family are the most important thing to me.

We met at a church function one Sunday night and never looked back. We knew on our first date that we were each other’s “The One” and a short time later we were married. Life being married isn’t always easy but Greg keeps me laughing!
Greg and I both are open to the idea of an Open adoption. I LOVE to blog and email so I am totally cool with sending pictures and writing. We are also ok with visits and calls. I am hoping to be able to be friends with our birth mother and for them to feel like part of the family! Being from the south I’ve never met a stranger. Leave me alone in a room with people I don’t know and in 15 minutes time I’ll be friends with them all!
Laura : My hobbies and interests are crocheting, reading, rollerblading, biking, hiking, 4 wheeling, music, making cakes and cooking, couponing, blogging, taking pictures, horses, and singing in the shower J

Greg : My hobbies are : Hunting, fishing, hot rods, camping, flying, boating, 4 wheeling, working on my truck and BBQ’ing.
Laura's thought's on Greg : Greg is the most honest, loyal, hardworking person I know. He has a passion and drive for things that is so amazing. He will make a wonderful father, he is so good to all of our nieces and nephews. He is just a big a kid as they are when he is playing with them. He is such a caring and compassionate man. He is a real go - getter and doesn't let any grass grow under his feet! He is committed and steadfast in his decisions which are almost always correct. He values his family and close relationship with our Heavenly Father above all else. Greg has a sense of humor that can be child like at times but most importantly he keeps me laughing which is a major plus in my book!
Greg’s thought’s on Laura : Laura is a very tender hearted woman. She is so caring and sweet. She has a really good sense of humor and always has a smile for me. She will make a wonderful mother because she loves without thinking of herself. She is so good with service and helping others. She is my best friend and I don’t think I could have found a better partner to share my life with.
I (Laura) was actually thinking for a present for our future birth mother and the baby to share I would make them matching crocheted blankets. That way when they wrap up in it they can know that their baby is wrapped up in the same blanket and it can be something the two of them can share!
We are loving people and we are so excited to meet our potential birth mother and get to know them! I love being a stay at home wife and keeping the house clean and when we are blessed with a child I know it will only add to our happiness (and my cleaning list! ) We are blessed that Greg has a job that allows that and it also allows him a lot of free time to be able to be with his family!

Again we just want our birth mother to know that we think they are so wonderful and a rare treasure.
Love always,

Greg and Laura
